Miriam O’Hare, our longtime Government Documents and Special Collections Librarian at Benedictine College recently retired after more than 35 years of service. Miriam has touched the lives of hundreds of students over the years, through library classes, individual research assistance and above all through her welcoming presence. Her natural flair for teaching has made her popular among faculty who often call upon her to teach online searching to their students.
Miriam is well-respected in the local community, and has given presentations on our special collections to various groups and interested individuals. Recently, Miriam was responsible for coordinating Benedictine College’s contribution to a rare book and manuscript display at Miller Nichols Library at UMKC in June of 2012. She is well known among local Government Documents librarians and has faithfully attended their bi-annual meetings held throughout the State of Kansas. Her thematic displays featuring our special collections have long greeted visitors as they enter the library.
There will be an informal reception for Miriam on Friday April 26 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the Benedictine College Library. All are welcome to drop by and visit with Miriam in the Reading Room on the main floor on the library.
