Today is the feast of Saint Jerome, (ca. 340 – 420) patron of Librarians. His greatest contribution was the translation of the Bible into Latin, known as the Vulgate. Jerome apparently was not easy to get along with, and had to tendency to be caustic and argumentative. We can all find some consolation that sainthood does not require a perfectly pleasant personality! Here is a link to an article about Jerome on the New Advent website.
